Web Space Server VM Template Project

Web Space Server VA Project

This project is delivering a series of virtual machine (VM) images to help kickstart deployments based on Web Space Server, enterprise-class portal software. Since the commonly used components are pre-installed and initially configured at the factory, there's no traditional piecemeal installation required.

Try the current Web Space Server VM Template.

These single system-oriented images will be useful for:

  • Evaluating basic deployments of Web Space Server
  • Starting basic production deployments of Web Space Server
  • Deploying shared developer server instances of Web Space Server

Deployment-oriented: Complements Desktop- and Developer-oriented Distributions

These images are intended to complement the desktop- and developer-oriented software distributions that Web Space Server is delivering. As such the deployment-oriented VM images will be scaled back to include only the parts of the underlying operating system that are needed for a typical Web Space Server-based deployment. For example, a desktop environment such as Gnome will not be included in the deployment images.

Initial Focus is on VM Images Rather than Black Box Appliance

The initial phase of the Web Space VM Image project is not attempting to deliver a black box virtual appliance in which all administrative operations are carried out through a purpose-built user interface. Later phases of this project may address delivery of a more service-oriented black box appliance.
